Toxicology
To quote from the title of the seminal text by Casarett & Doull, toxicology is “the basic science of poisons.” All chemicals, whether “natural” or manmade, have potential for toxicity. Toxicology is the science that tells us the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms, the mechanisms by which these effects cause harm, the levels of chemical exposure at which illness or disease occurs, and other factors important to understanding the interaction of chemicals with biological systems.

I conduct in depth research from the primary scientific literature and authoritative public research databases to describe chemical hazards and assess risk of harm from chemical exposures. I use the same research strategies to investigate candidate pharmaceuticals as they move from early development to pre-clinical phases.
